Types of Help Needed: Activities with Agency Clients

Service Opportunity Details: Direct Service Volunteers work with staff to provide a safe and supportive environment for victims of domestic violence and their children receiving services at the Humboldt Park Outreach Program. The work includes assisting with preparation for support groups, coordinating recreational and educational activities for children, and providing administrative support.

Location: Chicago-Humboldt Park

Volunteer Ages: Young Adults, Adults

Frequency: On-going

Frequency Details: A 6 month commitment of 3-4 hours per week is required. Current schedule: Wednesday 10:30 am – 1:00 pm (DCFS DV Educational Group) Wednesday 4:30 – 8:00 pm (Spanish Speaking Support Group, and Children’s Group) Thursday 4:30 – 8:00 pm (English Speaking Support Group).

Other Information: Direct Service Volunteers are required to complete a 40-hour Domestic Violence Training Program, which is offered a couple times a year to new volunteers.
