Service Opportunity Details: Partner with the Sports and Fitness Academy to help coach and train 5-18 year olds in specific sports such as basketball, baseball, running club, fitness class, volleyball, and more at Breakthough’s Family Plex.

Service Opportunity Details: Association House of Chicago’s Workforce Development program provides trainings and classes to help participants gain skills to help them seek employment or advance their careers. We are seeking Microsoft Office Instructors facilitate our Saturday Microsoft Office Workshops. Instructors will assist adult learners in learning the fundamental and intermediate skills in the suite of Microsoft Office 2010 products. The instructor will be provided and use curriculum from the MS Office Study Guide and developed by Association House to instruct students in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Outlook.

Service Opportunity Details: This agency provides Adult Basic Education classes to help participants develop their writing, reading and mathematics skills. Association House also offers courses to help participants prepare for the GED examination. The tutor’s role is to help the adult learners with their reading and writing, vocabulary, comprehension, and background knowledge about basic subjects. In order to be a successful volunteer, you do not need to be a certified teacher or even college educated. Effective tutors approach the tutoring as learner-centered and exhibit patience, understanding, creativity, humor, organization, enthusiasm, and knowledge in tutoring.

Frequency Details: The Adult Education Programming is provided in 8 week sessions with 12 hours of classes per week, (Monday through Thursday from 9:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. and from 1:30p.m. to 4:30p.m.) Tutors do not need to commit to being available everyday, but tutors do need to commit to a regular schedule during the 8-week session.
