By Silvi Pirn, Director of Youth Ministry
Another May is here. Another Youth Sunday. This special day features Senior Sermons by our high school seniors during worship. This is also the day when the congregation sends its youth mission team into the world, this year, Cuba, to do the work of Christ. Finally, we have the blessed opportunity to celebrate young people for their service and dedication to our faith community and in the world with Alison Tobey Smart and Wilson King IMPACT awards. The Youth Sunday tradition spans generations at Kenilworth Union Church and it is as relevant as ever.
Participation in a faith community is essential especially today, when young people are subject to information and pressures unknown to older generations. Teens who are active here have ample support to strengthen their spiritual well-being as they join in our common endeavor to understand and accept God’s abundant life as eternal truth in a world that tries to convince us that true life lies elsewhere—in popularity, victory, achievement, accolades, wealth, power, appearances, scholarships, grades, associations, Instagram likes, and YouTube views.
Please join me this coming Sunday in celebrating and thanking the youth of Kenilworth Union Church at both 9 and 10:30 a.m. worship. Please also keep the youth of this church and this community in your prayers now and always.
And check out this month’s May 2018 Youth Update
