Faith, Friendship, and Kenilworth Union Church
A lecture by Judith Paine McBrien, Director of PBS’, Make No Little Plans: Daniel Burnham and the American City
Join us as we explore the fascinating but little known story of the faith and friendship between two iconic Chicago figures and their families, architect Daniel Burnham and Kenilworth founder Joseph Sears. As almost exact contemporaries, they both came of age during Chicago’s explosive growth into the second largest city in America. Visionaries, leaders, and town planners, we’ll learn how each person influenced the other and how their shared values helped shape a city, a town and Kenilworth Union Church.
Judith Paine McBrien, a member of Kenilworth Union Church, is the Director of The Archimedia Workshop, which produces programs about architecture, history, and urban design.
