Bernie’s Book Bank

When: Monday, April 1–Friday, April 12

Where: Red Buckets in the entry way or at carpool line on Wednesday April 10

What:  Donate new and gently used children’s books for children from birth through 6th grade reading level. “Bernie’s loves them all—fiction, non-fiction, chapter books, picture books, and everything in between. Whatever your children love to read is what our children love to read. However, don’t distribute textbooks, dictionaries, activity books, coloring books, reference material, religious books, or foreign language books (dual language is ok).”

Why:  Each child Bernie’s Book Bank serves becomes part of a long-term, sustainable program aimed at providing them with quality, advancing levels of books that grow over time with the child’s reading level. In 2018 Bernie’s Book Bank served more than 300,000 at-risk children in Chicagoland and provided 12 quality books to each child.

Who:  You!

We’d love to bring a big stack of books with us when we go to volunteer on Friday afternoon.  A joyful thank you to all who can help!

Contact: Meg Johnson or Amy O’Dell with questions.
