Choral Music Sunday “A Light in the Stable”

Written by: Julia Smolucha

“Cradled in a cattle stall,
Friendly beasts around him lowing,
Cradled in a cattle stall,
Precious gift of God to all.”

By Lisa Bond, Director of Music

Come and worship! This Sunday, December  10, we will be celebrating Choral Music Sunday at the 9 and 10:30 a.m. worship. Kenilworth Union’s Chancel Choir and soloists have been working for months to bring their best to God, and to our congregation.

Our musical offering, A Light in the Stable, is an Advent/Christmas Cantata with organ and orchestra which tells the story of Christ’s humble beginnings. The choral work opens with a Gregorian chant, narrates the biblical story with familiar carols of the season, and includes fresh and inspiring carols by British composer Alan Bullard.

Other members of our congregation will also be participating in this Cantata. Readers of all ages will frame each movement by reciting words from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, as well as poetry from William Blake and other authors.

So let’s pack the pews to hear the good news! Invite your friends to worship, and be surrounded by God’s light in the stable, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Serving the Lord With Gladness, Lisa
