Children’s Ministry Visioning Day

Written by: Julia Smolucha

By The Reverend Dr. Katie Snipes Lancaster

As we dream for the future, deepening our ministry to children and their families, change is afoot. After our November 11 Children’s Ministry visioning day, we have a clear mandate to develop new programs, strengthen existing ones, and design new curriculum for our ministry to children and families.

With the current job vacancies in mind (Laurel Lien shifting her work to the AJN Preschool and Chris Johnson retiring), God placed opportunity at our doorstep. Working with the executive committee and personnel committee, we are now posting a new position, Director of Christian Education, seeking to hire someone with the educational and ministry background to support curriculum and leadership development and ministry visioning.

A brief job description can be found here, and a search committee has been called to receive applications: Diana Connolly, Ken Harris, Meg Revord, and myself.

Anne Faurot will continue to lead us through this transition in her current capacity, and will remain on our staff as full time Associate Director of Children’s Ministries, directing Children’s Outreach, leading Young Chapel, and supporting all of the new and existing ministries to children programmatically and administratively. She is looking forward to this new chapter in our ministry.

We are blessed to be able to support our children in this new way. As Lisa Bond says, “Put God first, and children just the tiniest bit below that.”

Or, as Jesus says, “let the little children come to me.”
