Come join us this Summer as we explore the
Wonders of the Universe at Vacation Bible School (VBS)
VBS is one of the ways Children’s Ministry is advocating for the health and wellbeing of children. Faith and play are antidotes to well-documented early childhood epidemics: indoor sedentary behavior, increased screen time, over-tasking, and nature deficit disorder.
These recent and rapid changes that impact childhood were the focus of the Alliance for Early Childhood’s Neuroscience of Early childhood Summit attended by both Kenilworth Union Children’s Ministry staff and the staff of A Joyful Noise Preschool. What we learned reinforces our commitment—joyfully engage children with scripture, music, art, the outdoors, and play.
This Summer marks Kenilworth Union’s 7th offering of Vacation Bible School! Our VBS Program—which is actually like a camp—is designed to offer kids the opportunity a fun and relaxed way to “do church” inside and out! Together as we experience God and nature through imagination and wonder, our campers will take part in a faith-filled action-packed week. They will enjoy everything from exciting fast past activities, creative projects, team building events, casual music, and daily worship involvement to enjoying awesome meals together.
Our Jr. Counselors (7th and 8th grade) and Senior Counselors (high school) are trained prior to VBS week and have the big assignment of running the show! They take on very active leadership roles, not only within their camper teams, but also with guiding church staff on creative and programming ideas. Our campers love our great counselors (and so do we).
Our Parent Volunteers also are a key component to the success of our Vacation Bible School. Volunteers are invited to get involved with any of the many duties that are required during the week—assisting with daily registration, meal prep and service, activity room supervisors, and various special ops! Please contact Christine Hides to volunteer.
