Youth Ministries : Mission Trips

IMPACT – for youth in grades 9-12

KUC Youth Ministries offers an International Mission Trip program for Senior High youth called “IMPACT.” The Impact program begins in January and culminates in a week-long international mission trip in early June. Prior to the trip, students meet twice a month to do teambuilding and local service projects. In recent years, we have gone on mission trips to Nicaragua, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Belize, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.

While most youth mission trips have been to foreign countries, in June 2012, the Senior High mission trip will be to New Orleans. For 6 years, New Orleans has seen more than its fair share of devastation, starting in 2005 with Hurricane Katrina and most recently enduring the devastation of the BP Oil Spill. Many have managed to restore their homes and livelihoods, but too many still struggle to meet their basic needs.! The 2012 Impact team will work in the lower 9th ward to help the people of this ravaged community know that they are not forgotten and that people still care about restoring their homes, their communities and their faith.

QUEST – for youth in grades 7-9

KUC Youth Ministries also offers a program for youth in grades 7 through 9 called “QUEST.” Quest is an experiential program that leads youth to explore their faith and their relationship with God and others. The program begins in January and culminates in a trip over Memorial Day weekend. In the past, Quest programs included trips to New York City and Colorado.

Young Adult Mission Trips

In August 2011, eleven young adult KUC members traveled to Cuba to work with oppressed churches.  They brought humanitarian aid and a message of hope. Contact Rev. Sarah Garcia at sgarcia@kuc.org if you are a young adult (college age through late 20’s) and are interested in going on a KUC Young Adult mission trip in the future.
