Worship at Kenilworth Union Church : Ensembles


This unique adult choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:30–9 p.m. On Sundays the choir meets at 8:15 a.m. in order to perform at the 9 a.m. service and at 10:15 a.m. for a rehearsal for the 10:30 a.m. service. The Chancel Choir sings two large choral/orchestral works per year and performs an anthem for almost every worship service. This is a very dedicated group comprised of professional and volunteer singers. It is also a very rewarding fellowship opportunity. The Chancel Choir is directed by Lisa Bond. We are also very fortunate to have seven professional section leaders, all of whom have successful vocal careers throughout the Chicago area.


A large group for grades 6-12 that meets on Sunday mornings from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. This energetic youth choir follows the apprenticeship multi-age approach to learning and has many performance opportunities throughout the church season. The Youth Choir is led by Lisa Bond and Barbara Falk.


A large group for grades 2–5 that meets on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. and Sundays from 10–10:30 a.m. September through May. Rejoice Singers perform as part of the Christmas Pageant and Children’s Day, as well as throughout the church season. Rejoice Singers is led by Lisa Bond, Kelli Harrington and Barbara Falk.


This new multi-age ensemble provides a great opportunity for singers who have performed or are interested in A Cappella groups. The rehearsal schedule is flexible and is dependent on those who participate. This group was started by KUC Youth Choir alum Taylor Cole, and is now being led by Hamilton Chang.

The Adult Bell Choir meets on Wednesday evenings from 7–8 p.m.  September through May. The hand bell choir performs occasionally throughout the church season at Sunday worship. This choir is open to anyone and there is no audition necessary, but musical experience is helpful. This is a wonderful opportunity for fellowship. This ensemble is directed by Lisa Bond and Kelli Harrington.


A youth string orchestra dedicated to the study of outstanding classical repertoire. This group meets on Sundays afternoons, 3:30–4:30 p.m. . The director is Debby Ponko.


Junior Bell Choir Rehearsal is for grades 5–12 meets on Wednesdays from 6–6:55 p.m. along with a fellowship dinner. This hand bell choir performs periodically at our Sunday worship services. This ensemble is open to anyone and there is no audition necessary. Fellowship is one of the many benefits of this music ministry opportunity.

Did you sing in college or high school? Do you miss the fellowship and musical joy of being in a choir? New voices are needed to join the Chancel Choir, especially sopranos and altos. Please join us for rehearsal and experience the glory of singing to the Lord with gladness. We meet Thursdays from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
