  During the holidays, members and friends of Kenilworth Union Church are invited to purchase gifts and food items for families supported by KUC Outreach agencies. Church members are given a photograph and "wish list" of their family and gifts are dropped off at the church on a Saturday in December. This is a way to brighten the holidays for gift recipients and church members.

  The Altar Guild consists of volunteers who ready the Sanctuary and Chapel and prepare the communion elements.

  Bus service is provided every Sunday for 10:30 worship (10:00 summer) from Presbyterian Homes, Plaza del Lago and Wilmette Sheridan Road Apartments. Volunteers help riders on and off of the bus, accompanying them to the church and then making the return trip. A group of volunteers rotates to provide coverage throughout the year.

  This set of readings for each day of the year is produced by women of the church for sale at the Christmas Bazaar or from the church office. You may submit quote contributions or assist in this project.

  Support group and periodic professional presentations are offered at 7:00 p.m., 4th Monday of month, for persons under treatment, family members and all interested in learning about this illness and its treatment.

  Develops programming to welcome new members and to enhance relationships within the congregation. This committee plans the KUC Annual Dinner and other special social events.

  Children and members of the congregation collect food items in the month of September. Monetary donations are also needed from church members. Families come to assemble food in October. Distribution to our Christian Outreach agencies occurs during October as well. This is a church wide service day and it is a wonderful way for families and others to experience fellowship while helping those in need.

  Every July over 450 women, with help from men and youth, organize the sale which generates proceeds for KUC Christian Outreach agencies. Items are dropped off during the summer, beginning in June, and sorting lasts until the sale. Volunteers are needed to chair all departments and to help in the sorting fun. You will enjoy camaraderie, meet new friends, and renew connections. Sorting hours are flexible and preparation for the sale lasts about six weeks. Items are sold throughout the summer so you can spot and buy your favorite piece of clothing. There are many opportunities to match various areas of interest. For example, we need help with communications, the rummage fashion show, luncheon, working with Ebay, etc.

  Volunteers who have received over 50 hours of training are available to provide ongoing, one-to-one lay Christian care to individuals experiencing a crisis or challenge such as divorce, bereavements, hospitalization, difficult transitions, particular stress, and loneliness. Stephen Ministers are referred to those in need by the ministerial staff, participate in regular supervision and observe strict confidentiality.
