Prayers of the People
—June 18

By Ken Harris

We join our hearts and voices to offer prayers to God. Let us pray:

Dear Lord Jesus, please look down on us and give us the strength to glorify your name. Thank you for this day and for the opportunity to share fellowship with family and friends in such a warm and welcoming environment. Let us honor our Father’s here today and those departed to be with you in Heaven.

Please provide guidance to the members of our congregation making difficult decisions. Please provide comfort to those who are suffering; strength to those who are weak; joy to those in need of levity, who are grieving and in sorrow.

For those whose lives we touch and for those people who are in our family that extend beyond our congregation; for those that are poor or hungry or sick; for those that are suffering oppression; please hear our prayers to help where we can and to give people strength to persevere through these difficulties.

Thank you for the wonder and the gift of life and for Katie and Rob Lancaster’s new baby boy.

Thank you for providing our IMPACT youth group with safe Passage to and from Belize and guiding them as they did God’s work for people whose circumstances are so different from our own.

Please keep our nation safe and protect those people in war-torn areas such as Syria, Somalia and Sudan. For world leaders, please give them wisdom to make the right choices and for our national leaders, our state leaders and our local leaders help them focus on the things that matter, allowing us to continue to be a strong and great nation. For our fellow parishioners who are struggling whether it be with family, with friends, with business, in school, with peer pressure please give them comfort.

Finally, gracious God, hear our prayers. We give thanks to you, oh God, and to your son Jesus Christ our Lord as we now join our voices praying as Jesus taught us to pray saying:

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name
Thy Kingdom come, they will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory,
Forever. Amen.
