Pastoral Prayer 2/5/12
Lord, today we come to praise you, not just with our voices or hearts but with our whole selves. We clap with joy and sing out with gratitude for the immeasurable blessings filling our lives. We celebrate Gospel Sunday today. The Gospel is the good news, and God, we know you have good news for us. It is good news that you love us and you are with us, always have been and always will be. It is good news that no matter how dark the night, the morning will always come, and we should never give up hope in the midst of despair. It is good news that we are part of this faith community where we are cared for by so many. It is good news that there is spiritfilled music that lifts us out of our seats, moves us to clap our hands, brings smiles to our faces and re-energizes us for what lies ahead. Help us to let go of all that holds us back and weighs us down and to claim the good news as our own. Push the dark clouds away and let the sun shine into us today. Let us radiate your light to the world so that all might see and hear and feel the good news as a reality for all.
