Rummage has arrived at Kenilworth Union! Our members, their children, staff, and non-members come here year-after-year to enjoy the fellowship and coffee, the warmth of our Church, and of course, the advance buying times. We are very fortunate to have dedicated, hardworking, and loyal individuals to help make our outreach commitment even stronger.
This is no small task as many of you know; in order to prepare for the sale days, all the rooms that Rummage occupies are dismantled. Classrooms for A Joyful Noise and Sunday School, plus the Centennial Room, Malott Chapel, and eventually the Transept and Culbertson Room are prepared for use by Rummage. The Warwick Manse is the main sorting area and the original first floor furnishings are rolled up and sent to storage for 2-1/2 months. Then out come all of the tables, shoe racks, shelving, bins, hangers, clothes racks, and so much more. Durable plastic is laid over the carpet on the 2nd floor of the Church to protect the rug.
Victor and Miguel frequently sweep and wash the stairs, carry out garbage, move boxes, and help unload donations into the Warwick Manse. If donations are left outside due to overload in teh drop-off area, they are quick to help move and protect the goods.
It is truly amazing how many donated items the Church receives each day.
From all these wonderful donations, Preview Deballage is created. Volunteer’s select the créme de la créme of the donations and bring them to the luncheon for auction. Preview Deballage will be held Wednesday, July 8 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Kenilworth Club. RSVP deadline for this event is Monday, July 6.
Hundreds of volunteers have passed through the doors since May 29 to build racks, set up rooms, sort, hang clothes, price, and all the work they do culminates into two sale dates:
• Premium Presale, Thursday, July 16 from 8 a.m. to noon, 50% Markup.
• Rummage Sale Day, Saturday, July 18 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It takes many hands to run the 2015 Kenilworth Union Church Annual Rummage Sale to support charity. We are deeply grateful for the hundreds of volunteer hours to make our Outreach program a success.
