Care Giving Boomerang

Rev. Dick Ferris will lead an informal support group for people concerned about their aging parents as they try to provide informed guidance and compassionate care. The group will meet Thursdays from 9-10:30 am in the second floor conference room on March 22, April 5 and 19th. No reservations needed.

The Programs supported by our Outreach Benefit improve the lives of countless people in need and 100% of the proceeds from this event go directly to the agencies. This year we are highlighting four agencies at our benefit:

Sarah’s Circle: Is a refuge for women who are homeless or in need of a safe space. Provides housing assistance, case management, referral services, and life necessities.

Family Matters: Provides tutoring, after school care, and parent forums. Advocates for low income residents.

Youth Organization Umbrella (Y.O.U): Provides an array of academic social and emotional developmental services that respond to the unmet needs of the young people they serve.

Casa Central: Serves the Hispanic community through daycare, after school care, family enrichment programs, low income senior housing, and nursing care.

Volunteer Opportunity

Some of the students in grades 3-8 are in need of immediate help. One and two hour shifts are available Monday through Friday at Holy Family School in Chicago. Tutors are needed to work one-on-one with students in reading and math between 10 am and 3 pm and in the after-school hours of 3:30-5:30 pm.
