James T. Hackett, a Partner in private equity firm Riverstone Holdings LLC, is the retired Executive Chairman of the Board and former CEO of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, one of the world’s largest independent oil and natural gas exploration and production companies. He is a student in the Masters in Theological Studies Curriculum at Harvard Divinity School, and holds a M.B.A. from the same institution. Hackett is the former Chairman of the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, a Board member and former Chairman of the Baylor College of Medicine, and a Board member of the Texas Medical Center. His prior energy experience includes leadership positions in engineering, finance, and marketing. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, a director of Cameron International and Enterprise Products Partners L.P. (Fortune 500 companies), Sierra Oil & Gas, and a member of the L1 Energy Advisory Board.

Hackett grew up in Winnetka and graduated from New Trier High School in 1972.
He married his high school sweetheart, Maureen.
Her influence kept their life together focused on serving others,
even as they raised four children and Hackett charged through
Harvard Business School and a spectacular career
with a series of energy companies.
