KUC BLOG: QUEST

Dear Friends,

QUEST: Mini-Mission Trip

Hollywood.  It conjures up images of glamorous celebrities and sparkling movie studios.  “You’re taking the Junior High youth to Hollywood?” people have been wondering.  But, here’s the thing.  While the Hollywood Hills are home to many celebrities, the neighborhood of Hollywood Presbyterian Church, the hub for our QUEST Mini-Mission Trip, is one of the lowest-income neighborhoods of Los Angeles.

While in Hollywood, we will partner with DOOR, an agency dedicated to helping both the chronically homeless as well as families who have recently become homeless; we will be sent throughout the Greater Los Angeles area to provide valuable volunteer time to ministries helping with poverty relief, hunger, education achievement gaps, HIV/AIDS issues, and children’s advocacy.

QUEST prepares youth to see themselves and others through God’s eyes, and we hope that this Hollywood trip welcomes them into that hard work of faith exploration, self-reflection and activities designed to show us what the Body of Christ truly means.

Registration ends December 28.  Please consider joining us – all youth 7th grade and older are invited to participate.
