Outreach Benefit Report 2008

This year's Christian Outreach Benefit continued with the theme "Looking Up and Reaching Out" and highlighted agencies within our outreach program whose focus is on at-risk women. These agencies included Sarah's Circle, Chicago Abused Women Coalition, Evanston/North Shore YWCA, Deborah's Place and St. Martin de Porres House of Hope. The benefit was held at the Winnetka Women's Club in Winnetka on April 25, 2008. The title of the event "April in Paris" was reflected in the many concurrent activities, including a grand prize raffle, wine and cheese tasting, live artists and vintage fashions. The silent auction offered a range of eighty-five fantastic items from a private jet trip to a variety of sporting event tickets. In addition, a buffet dinner of French fare was served. The ever-popular wine raffle sold fifty-two bottles, all of which were donated by the congregation. The generosity of som many individual and business donors, volunteers who donated their time and those who attended the party all helped contribute to a very successful evening.

There was a broad representation of the congregation in attendance with 203 tickets sold. The ticket sales, auction, wine raffle and other activities all contributed to a total amount raised of $65,932.50, which was an increase of over $6,000 from the previous year. A net revenue of $50,496.35 will go toward our Outreach agencies. We would like to extend a special thank you to Speciality Printing for donating all of our print material; to the KUC staff including Rev. Ben Bishop, Kathy McCabe, Ellie Kilcran, Kate Robinson, and Lori Flignor and to the Outreach Benefit committee: Heidi Black, Amy Van Gorp, Beth ottsen, Holli Volkert, Heather Davey, Nancy Henry, Cris Guthrie and Mindy Douthit.
